A Litany for Sunday: Jesus who on this day…

 

 

The following litany is from The Wideness of God’s Mercy.

 

Jesus, who on this day of the week rose from the dead: Have mercy on us.

Jesus, who on this same day put on life immortal: Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on this same day appeared to Mary Magdalene and to the apostles: Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on this say day opened the eyes of the two disciples going to Emmaus: Have mercy on us.

Jesus, who on this same day comforted your apostles and gave them peace. Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on this same day confirmed your apostles in the faith of the Resurrection by showing them your hands and your feet: Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on this same day breathed on the apostles and gave them the Holy Spirit: Have mercy on us.

Jesus, who on this same day opened their understanding to know the Scriptures: Have mercy on us.

Jesus, who on this same day gave them power to remit sins: Have mercy on us.

Jesus, who on this same day sent the apostles on their mission, and commanded them to go and teach all nations: Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on a Sunday bore patiently with the weakness of St. Thomas, and by the evidence of your sacred wounds healed his unbelief: Have mercy on us.

Jesus, who on a Sunday sent down the Holy Spirit on the apostles, and thus prepared them for laying the foundation of you Church: Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on a Sunday moved your apostle Peter to preach the first Christian sermon to his fellow Jews: Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on this Sunday is present among us now in Word and Sacrament to heal and forgive and empower: Have mercy on us. 

Jesus, who on this Sunday gives us a vision of heaven and a foretaste of everlasting life: Have mercy on us, now and always. Amen.
