Planning for Lent 2018
While Lent may seem a long way off, many churches are already selecting resources for study and devotion. Ash Wednesday is February 14th, so it is not too early to select a Lenten study.
“Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John” Lenten Study
This outstanding Lenten study is from the Society of St. John the Evangelist (SSJE). The prayer journal will guide participants through the season as they connect with Scripture from the Gospel of John. Reflections are provided for each day, along with space for journaling or drawing.
Participants can also sign up for free daily emails from SSJE that will include reflections and short videos. These emails will nicely complement the Lenten study.
As the brothers of SSJE ask: “Have you ever wished to deepen your relationship with God? To experience a warm friendship with God? Maybe even fall in love with God – again – or for the very first time?” This study invites people to do just that.
Do It in Small Groups!
While “Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John” can be done by individuals, the study is even better for small groups. A vast assortment of group facilitation guides have been created to help your church use this program as a community. Facilitation guides are available for:
- Adult small groups
- Teens and youth
- Sunday morning forum
- Online groups
- Lenten evening program
- And more
